Dump Cake... It may not be the most attractive sounding dessert, but it gives me a reason to celebrate every time I need to come up with a delicious after-meal sweet without any effort at all!
Just like its name suggests, all you have to do is literally dump all of the ingredients into a dish and bake it. This delicious pantry recipe is absolutely fail-proof and is now my ultimate go-to dessert to make, whenever I’m in a hurry and definitely want to please the crowd!
The exact origins of this dessert are unclear, but many believe that it was first made when cake mixes arrived in modern kitchens. The original versions of this convenience dish used canned cherries and pineapple along with the ready-made cake mix. Today, there are countless versions ranging from peach dump cake to mixed fruit and more. No matter what, this cobbler-like dessert is convenient on the ingredient side, as well as on the time side.
Ingredients:
500g vanilla cake mix
420g tin of tropical fruit mix chunks
420g tin of pineapple chunks
200g butter, sliced
1 cup walnuts, chopped
Method:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Get a 9x13 inch dish or baking pan ready.
Dump in the pineapple chunks along with all the liquid.
Dump in the mixed fruit chunks along with all the liquid.
Mix everything together and even it out.
Add the cake mix and level it out.
Top with the slices of butter.
Sprinkle the walnuts.
Place in the oven and bake for 45 minutes or until the cake is brown and bubbling.
It will look like a beautiful cobbler when done.
I usually serve this dump cake warm right out of the oven, topped with some creamy vanilla ice cream. You can also top it with some whipped cream.
Enjoy!
