Coriander & Mint Chutney

Chutneys can be spicy, tangy or sweet and are sometimes also ‘all-in-one’! They are very popular in an endless array of Indian cuisine and are popularly served as a dip alongside many snacks. Green chutneys like this one are used to make various kinds of chaat. There are also many variations of this green chutney, too.

This recipe, which I often make at home, is simple and very, very easy to make. All you need are a few ingredients and a blender. The best part? It can be made in just 5 minutes and is guaranteed to take your dishes from flavourful to flavour-tastic! It’s definitely a good recipe to add to your repertoire.

While this fresh and tasty chutney goes amazing with Indian foods like vada, dosa, frankies, chaats and samosas… It is also a delicious accompaniment to things like kebabs, roasted veggies, naan bread, steaks, Buddha bowls and salad! In fact, your options are endless!

Give this Coriander and Mint Chutney recipe a try...

I promise, you will luuurrrve it!

Notes:

·      For a tangier taste, add a few slices of raw mango, but reduce the amount of lime juice used.

·      For a creamier version add ½ cup of yoghurt. If you don’t like yoghurt, you can substitute it with silken tofu instead.

·      For a thicker consistency, add about ¼ cup of fresh, shredded coconut. This option is great when you want it as an accompaniment for dosa.

·      You can use the stems of coriander but leave out the stems of the mint as they could make the chutney bitter.

·      The amount of green chillies used can be adjusted according to your preference. If you like it milder use less or if you want it spicier, use more.

·      This chutney will last for about 3 days in the fridge if stored in an airtight container. It tends to become bitter and lose its taste after that.

·      You can also make it in large batches if you like and store it in the freezer in small containers. Just thaw it in the fridge overnight and it’s ready to use the next day.
